11 November 2008 - Livewire and ACA win at the WA Media Awards

Livewire Productions is celebrating a recent award win in conjunction with the Nine Network’s A Current Affair program. Managing Director, Nikki Holmes won the TV Camera Prize at the Western Australian Media Awards for her work on ACA’s recent expose/ongoing investigation into the business dealings of Haydn Ledger, the estranged uncle of the late Heath Ledger. The series of stories was shot in Perth and aired in July 2008 and August 2008 on the Nine Network.

Throughout her 20 Years experience in the television industry, Nikki has covered everything from the conflict in East Timor to Wally Lewis’s epilepsy story. Accustomed to working in extreme situations, what she expected to be a normal “walk-in” for A Current Affair turned into a violent altercation.

"The judges felt that the drama of the Uncle Ledger series on ACA was due in large part to Nikki who managed to keep shooting while “all hell broke loose around her."

Throughout this terrifying experience Nikki never stopped shooting, gathering pictures that are truly confronting.

The story also won the TV Prize that is awarded for the best series of stories broadcast on television for News and Current Affairs. The Livewire team would like to congratulate both Amanda Paterson and Amelia Ballinger for their award wins in this category.
